How do I withdraw from a subject?

You can withdraw from subjects via StudentOnLine

If you withdraw from a subject that is a prerequisite or corequisite for another subject you are enrolled in, you will be automatically withdrawn from the other subject(s). You can check the Handbook for subject details if you're not sure.

To withdraw from a subject:

  1. Login to StudentOnLine.

  2. Go to the My Study tile and select your course.

  3. Select Manage my course, then select Withdraw From a Subject. You will see a list of your currently enrolled subjects.

  1. Select the subject from which you want to withdraw using the tick boxes.

  2. Select Confirm.

This process is also demonstrated in the withdraw from a subject video tutorial.

Make sure you withdraw before census date to avoid:

  • paying fees for the subject

  • getting an academic sanction or

  • having a fail grade on your record.

For further information on withdrawal dates, see the information on the census dates webpage.

If your withdrawal is due to personal difficulty or special circumstances you may be able to apply for a remission of debt (refund).
