Choosing subjects and electives
How do I choose which subjects to study (especially electives)?
The subjects you can choose will depend on your course structure. You can find your structure by searching for your course in the University Handbook. The structure is broken down by semester or term and lists the subjects you need to complete.
- Core subjects are required for your degree.
- Elective subjects are your choice.
Use the University Handbook to find electives. You can search by keywords, campus, year level, semester or discipline. You can also search for subjects without pre-requisites.
When you decide which subjects you want to study, you then need to enrol in those subjects in StudentOnLine. For more help, see: Steps to enrolment and Steps to enrol in electives.
Sydney campus students can seek guidance on subjects and electives from the Academic Services team during the enrolment period. To book an appointment, see Reception or email the Sydney campus team.
