What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI) and why do I need one?
- Create your USI
- Submit your USI to us via the form in StudentOnLine so we have it on your record
I have a USI but have forgotten what it is and where to look, how can I find out my USI?
For a USI to be deemed valid, your personal details registered with La Trobe must be an exact match to your record with the USI Registry. Please pay special attention to your first, middle and family names and your date of birth.
Your USI is different to your La Trobe Student ID, CHESSN or Admission Centre ID. Your USI is unique, 10 characters and include numbers and letters.
Failure to provide a USI may result in you having to pay full fees for your course.
If you're an international student studying offshore, you do not need to provide a USI. For more information please refer to the USI website.
I’ve been advised my USI is invalid, what should I do?
Your personal details in StudentOnLine must be the same as the information you provided when creating your USI.
To fix a mismatched USI, log in to both StudentOnLine and the USI Registry to check your personal information is identical in both systems (first, middle and family names & date of birth). If your information is mismatched, you must do one of the following:
- If your details recorded by La Trobe are incorrect, please submit an Amendment to Personal Details via StudentOnLine.
- If your details recorded in the USI Registry are incorrect, please update your USI details on the Government registry by logging into the USI portal.
