What support is available to help me if I'm struggling?

Studying at university can be hard, especially if you're juggling additional demands and pressures throughout the year. Don't suffer alone as there is support available to help you get through the tougher times.
 

Self-help resources

From information about connecting with others, to how to handle exams, our self-help resources are a great starting point to get advice and access our wellbeing services.

Counselling service at La Trobe

The La Trobe counselling service offers short to medium term counselling for our students at no cost. Students can request support by phone on (03) 9479 2956, by emailing counselling@latrobe.edu.au or online.
 

Health and Wellbeing

Contact the team for whatever your wellbeing needs. We offer a range of services to support your wellbeing during your studies at La Trobe. Visit the Health and Wellbeing web page today.
 

Community support options

  • seek support from your GP to access a mental health care plan and referral for subsidised counselling through medicare (you may need to pay any gap between the fee charged by the practitioner and what medicare covers). You can find your own psychologist for referral to, or have your GP recommend someone
  • contact your local community health centre or community information centre to ask if they have any low cost counselling options
