Deferring your Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF)
How do I defer my SSAF?
To defer your SSAF you need to apply for SA-HELP. You will need to meet the eligibility criteria, including being an Australian citizen, holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa or a New Zealand Special Category Visa holder.
To apply for SA-HELP, you need to submit a ‘Request for SA-HELP loan’ form. To find this form, go to the Government Assistance tab in the 'My Study' tile in StudentOnLine. Select the '+Add' button on the top right corner of the page to view the available Government Assistance forms.
The SA-HELP form must include your Tax File Number (TFN). You will need to ensure you follow the steps to submit your form in StudentOnLine and the Australian Government electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) portal.
You only need to apply for SA-HELP once per course. If you transfer courses, you will need to submit a new SA-HELP form.
If you are a new student, please wait 30 minutes after accepting your offer to complete your form.
For more information, including payment and deferral deadlines, see SSAF payment options and the StudyAssist website.
