Maximum course length
How long do I have to complete my course?
The time it will take for you to complete your course will vary depending on your study load (the number of subjects you take each semester/teaching or study period) and any pre-requisites required for further study.
Your course entry in the University Handbook will say how long it takes to complete the course if you study full time e.g. 3 years for a Bachelor's degree, 4-5 years for a double degree and so on. This applies to both on campus and online students.
The maximum time allowed to complete your course is calculated by doubling the full-time duration and adding one year. For example if your course is a 3 year, full-time course you will have up to 7 years to complete it (3 x 2 + 1 = 7).
Please be aware of your maximum course completion time when considering or reducing your study load or taking a Leave of Absence.
If you reach your maximum course completion time you may be required to participate in the formal Academic Progress process.
Note: some courses have professional registration conditions that must be met. This may affect your maximum time limit.
Visa expiry dates
If you are an International student visa holder, your visa expiry date will match the standard full-time course length (as listed in the Handbook).
