- You can use more search terms, or search using the subject code as found in the University Handbook.
- Need help finding elective subjects?
- You can use the University Handbook on our website to filter for subjects without pre-requisites at the year level, area of study, semester (and more) that you need and then use the subject code/s to select them in StudentOnLine.
- Not sure you meet the prerequisites?
- You can add subjects to your study plan even if you haven't met the prerequisites yet. Once your subjects are scheduled in a study period, you will be able to see if you still have prerequisites to meet.
4. Schedule and enrol in subjects
- When you're ready to enrol, click the Plan and Enrol button in the top left of the Manage My Course page.
- On the Plan and Enrol page you will see an Unscheduled column with core and/or elective subjects. Unscheduled refers to subjects that need to be assigned to a study period. Please note that this is different to timetabling. If you want to see the subject availability and requirements, select Click for details.
- Create a new study period by clicking Plan a Study Period. Alternatively, you can select the Schedule button on the subject to plan the study period.
- Select the Year and Study Period. The Study Period Date will populate automatically. Click Next.
- All Subjects with a confirmed study period for the selected Study Period will appear on the screen. Click the View button to view Subject details.
- Use the tick boxes to add subjects to the Study Period (Maximum of 6 subjects per teaching period).
- Select the Finish button to return to the Plan and Enrol page. The scheduled subjects now appear in a new Study Period column with the status of 'NOT ENROLLED'.
- Select the Enrol button at the top of the Study Period column; you will be presented with a summary of the subjects you are about to enrol in. Select the Confirm button to confirm your enrolment.
- Your subjects will then show as 'enrolled' in the Study Period column.
NOTE:- You will be unable to enrol in subjects if you still have outstanding pre-enrolment tasks.
- Subjects with prerequisites will show 'UNSATISFIED REQUISITES' when subjects are in the Unscheduled column. If you have met all prerequisites for the subject, this will update once you schedule the subject to a study period (e.g. 2023 - Semester 1). If you still have unsatisfied requisites after the subject has been scheduled, the alert will remain in place. If your subject is scheduled in a study period and you believe you have met all the prerequisites but StudentOnLine indicates there are prerequisites not met, submit an enrolment assistance request form.
If you are unable to enrol in subjects you will need to submit an enrolment assistance request as outlined in the table on the Change Enrolment Page.
5. Check your enrolment
- You can confirm your enrolled subjects by looking in the Study Period column and checking that all subjects show as enrolled at the top right of their tile.
6. Complete your enrolment for the whole year
- Complete this process for all subjects in your Study Plan for the whole calendar year (or the rest of the calendar year, if you are enrolling after Semester 1).
This process is demonstrated in the Manage My Course and the Schedule and Enrol video tutorials.
Graduate research candidates
Graduate researchers cannot self-enrol into their degree or into coursework subjects - the Graduate Research School will enrol you into your degree on the commencement date outlined in your offer letter, and into coursework subjects two weeks prior to the start of semester. You’ll receive a confirmation email once we’ve completed your enrolment. Contact the Graduate Research School (GRS) for any queries.
Tips:
- Use the expand all button (+) to view all of your subjects for all year levels that are part of your course.
- If you're still having trouble enrolling, you can use our 'Can't enrol in StudentOnLine' troubleshooting guide.
- You will see all subjects that you have planned to complete in your degree, including those in later years. When completing your enrolment, you can only enrol for the current year.
Closing dates:
- You can enrol into subjects until the end of week 1 for a Term, or the end of week 2 for a Semester. Check the census date website to view last dates to enrol in subjects.
- If you are enrolling late, you must have extenuating, compassionate and compelling circumstances, and have written approval from your Subject Coordinator, who will also require approval from the Associate Dean Learning and Teaching. Please complete the Variation Request - Exceptions form.
- You can withdraw from subjects in StudentOnline but please read this information first as you will normally still have to pay for the subject if you withdraw after census date and it will still be listed on your Academic Transcript (the 'result' listed for it will depend on the date you withdrew from the subject).
